Well, this morning I “googled” myself and what pops up? a New York Times “Diner’s Journal” entry dated April 2012 calling my post, An Unordinary Cooking Lesson, “The ultimate in literary food porn”!
I’m flattered, I guess!
If you missed that one, read it HERE.
The ultimate in literary food porn: photos of a day spent cooking with the Duchess of Palma in her Sicilian palazzo. Click to find the connection to “Il Gattopardo,” the great novel of the end of European aristocracy. — Julia Moskin

Hey it’s a tribute to your glorious photos and access to other people’s lives available to the rest of us only through movies like The Leopard or Downtown Abbey or such like fantasies brought to us in living technicolor. Wonderful fun. Hola, Betty
Thanks, Betty. Sure, it was a splendid visit but as you can see, the Duchess teaches cooking in her kitchen at the palazzo and now she’s opened her classes in the palazzo to the public. Just link to her website. I hear you’re under the California sun now. Lucky you!
Julia,
Your posting With The Duchess in Sicily is beautiful in every way. A marvel of excellent food writing and photography, a delight to read and to look at. By the way, I have read The Leopard, but sensed the flavor of the place-at least in today’s terms- more from your writing! I will use this piece, with photos, as an example in Food Writing classes, Brava!
Susan
I am touched by this, thank you for writing. I’m happy to have you show it in your classes!
Ha. I sort of find the “food porn” term to be a bit distasteful, but also find it oddly hilarious at the same time to see your blog being praised for being this. Love!
Not my words!
